Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders Visits SHS to Celebrate Arkansas GEM School Honors

Smackover-Norphlet School District was honored to welcome Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders to Smackover High School as she joined students, faculty, staff, and district leaders in celebrating the school’s Arkansas GEM School honors.Smackover High School received three Arkansas GEM School designations from the Arkansas Department of Education for:

• Ranking among the top 5% of Arkansas schools in overall student growth
• Overall growth in English Language Arts
• Overall growth in Science

These distinctions recognize the tremendous academic progress being made by Smackover High School students and reflect the dedication of our teachers, administrators, staff members, families, and entire school community.

Having Governor Sanders visit our campus and help celebrate this achievement made the occasion even more meaningful. We are excited and thankful that she took the time to recognize the hard work taking place at Smackover High School.

A special thank-you goes to Mr. Jim Phillips for helping make this memorable visit possible.

This recognition is a tremendous accomplishment for our school and another proud moment for the Smackover-Norphlet School District. Congratulations to everyone who helped Smackover High School earn this distinguished honor!
