Smackover-Norphlet Schools Earn Strong State Ratings, Arkansas Gem Schools Honors

SMACKOVER, Ark. — Smackover-Norphlet School District is celebrating significant academic progress following the release of its 2026 accountability results from the Arkansas Department of Education.

The district received an overall letter grade of B, with Norphlet Middle School, Smackover Elementary School and Smackover High School each earning a B rating.

One of the district’s most significant achievements came at Norphlet Middle School, which improved from a D rating last year to a B in 2026. The two-letter-grade increase reflects the focused efforts of students, teachers, administrators, families and staff members throughout the school.

Smackover Elementary School maintained its B rating, demonstrating continued academic strength and consistency. Combined with the progress at Norphlet Middle School and the performance of Smackover High School, the results helped the district earn a solid B rating and Level 1 support status, which requires no additional actions from the state.

Smackover High School also received three prestigious 2026 Arkansas Gem School designations:

  • Growth of All Students — Top 5%
  • Growth by Content Area — English Language Arts
  • Growth by Content Area — Science

The Growth of All Students designation places Smackover High School among the top 5% of high schools in its grade span statewide for student academic growth. The school will receive a $29,355.14 award through the Arkansas School Recognition Program.

Arkansas Gem Schools are recognized for producing outstanding results in student achievement, academic growth and sustained improvement. The designations are calculated using data from the state’s annual school accountability formula.

These results reflect the collective commitment of students, educators, school leaders, families and community members across Smackover-Norphlet School District. The district will continue building on this progress while remaining focused on providing every student with opportunities to learn, grow and succeed.
